14 – 18 March: James Chau, Broadcaster, Writer and UN Goodwill Ambassador

Visiting Shijiazhuang, Qingdao, Zhengzhou and Xi’an, James spoke to students about his career in journalism and news reporting, including what barriers and challenges he faced, and shared insights into his interviews with notable global figures including Winnie Mandela and Robert Mugabe.

James also spoke about his education at the Royal Academy of Music and the University of Cambridge and how his education shaped both his career and himself as a person. He offered valuable advice on building a career in journalism and television, notably through ‘having the guts to ask for what you want, and letting people know what you can offer in return’.
