Jonathan Cheung, Head of Design for Levi Strauss & Co, discusses his UK education and formula for forging a successful career in the fashion industry.
Since graduating from Kingston School of Fashion in London with First Class Honours, Jonathan Cheung has gained more than 20 years of design experience with leading fashion labels such as Armani Jeans and Moschino, including creating the first jeans collection for Iceberg. Today, he is Head of Design for the global Levi’s brand and is responsible for both the men’s and women’s design teams.
With a talk titled ‘Advice to my 20-year-old self’ , Jonathan discussed a career journey that has spanned 23 years of international design experience in menswear, womenswear and denim, leading creative teams in six countries and three languages. His Smart Talk with aspiring Chinese designers in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou also shed light on his educational background in the UK and the influence of British fashion designers in China.
