For the 2026-27 academic year, postgraduate scholarships are available to students from China at the following institutions.

  • Brunel University of London: Brunel University of London is offering GREAT Scholarships for the 2026-27 academic year, each worth £12,000.
  • Leeds Arts University: Leeds Arts University is offering GREAT Scholarships for the 2026-27 academic year, each worth £10,000.
  • Norwich University of the Arts: Norwich University of the Arts is offering GREAT Scholarships for the 2026-27 academic year, each worth £10,000.
  • Royal Conservatoire of Scotland:  The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland is offering GREAT Scholarships for the 2026-27 academic year, each worth £10,000.
  • Trinity Laban: Trinity Laban is offering GREAT Scholarships for the 2026-27 academic year, each worth £10,000.
  • Ulster University: Ulster University is offering GREAT Scholarships for the 2026-27 academic year, each worth £10,000.
  • University of Nottingham: The University of Nottingham is offering GREAT Scholarships for the 2026-27 academic year, each worth £10,000.
  • University of Worcester: University of Worcester is offering GREAT Scholarships for the 2026-27 academic year, each worth £10,000.
  • University of York: The University of York is offering GREAT Scholarships for the 2026-27 academic year, each worth £10,000.

What are we looking for in a GREAT scholar?

GREAT scholars must:

  • be a Chinese mainland passport holder and permanent resident
  • have an undergraduate degree, be motivated, and have an interest in the proposed subject area
  • meet the English language requirement of the UK HEI
  • establish an engagement with the UK as a scholar, through personal and academic fulfilment
  • be willing to attend a networking event of all UK based GREAT scholars, to discuss experiences and capture perceptions of studying in the UK
  • be willing to maintain contact with the British Council and their HEI and act as an ambassador for the GREAT Scholarships
  • as an alumnus of the GREAT Scholarships, be willing occasionally to speak to potential candidates about their own experience of studying in the UK.

  • Scholarship funding will be issued to successful scholars by individual universities after registration.
