1. How do I apply for the post or find out about other job opportunities with the British Council?

Please visit https://careers.britishcouncil.org/ and complete the online application form before the deadline.

2. When will I be contacted for the interview after submitting my application?

Normally it takes about 2-3 weeks to process the applications and inform candidates about the interview.

3. What is the selection process?

After the application deadline, we will shortlist candidates for interview against their skills, experience and knowledge (this normally takes 5 working days), and then inform selected candidates the interview information.     

4. I applied for a post and wasn't informed about an interview. Will this affect my application for another post?

No, your next application will not be affected. 

5. Can I submit my CV instead of application form?
Yes, you could use either your CV or our standard application form.

6. Which language should I use to fill in my application form?

English.

7. Which language will be used at interview?

Both English and Chinese, depending on the post requirement.

8. Which English language assessment tool will be used in the recruitment process?

We will use APTIS as the English assessment tool, and the assessment elements will vary from post to post. We will inform you which elements will be assessed when informing you of the interview.

9. Will there be future job opportunities for IELTS examiners?

The British Council in China only employs full-time contracted examinmers. Generally contracts become available twice a year. Successful applicants will be informed as to when places are available.
