Exams Distribution Services Team of the British Council is recruiting freelance, hourly paid invigilator to administer weekend and weekday exams. Currently only South China has openings.
Requirements:
To work as an invigilator, you are expected to have the following experience, qualifications and competencies:
- Chinese 2nd Generation ID Card holder
- Bachelor Degree or above (Desirable)
- Speak and read English fluently (minimum: IELTS Band 5.5; CET-6 Score 425; TEM-4 Score 60 or equivalent)
- Strong sense of security and responsibility
- Good attention to details
- Good customer care
- Good communication, planning and organisational skills
- Good team work and being active in supporting others
- Familiar with computer operating system (For computer-based exams)
- Ability and confidence to speak in front of a group of people
- May involve working with children under 18 (Weekday invigilators)
Weekend Invigilator:
- Desired working date: Weekend in June and December each year. In 2019 the two sessions are arranged as below:
- Session One: 15&16 June 2019
- Session Two: 7 December 2019 - Working hour: 07:00-17:30
- Training session: minimum 2 hours to be arranged one or two weeks prior to the exam date
- Hourly rate and additional allowance: RMB 82 before IIT (Individual Income Tax) and the calculation of time length includes both test day working hour and training session; Flat-rate transportation fee for training and invigilation as well as working lunch provided on test day; Total package fee for the most basic role is RMB 1125 before IIT.
- Test day work invitation: Once you are selected into our invigilator pool, you may receive our invitation before each session
Desired Location: Guangzhou, Shenzhen

Weekday Invigilator:
- Desired working date: week day in March, June, September and December each year, usually arranged for up to 5 working days during the 1st full completion week of the month.
- Working hour:
1.Paper-based Exam: 14:00-18:30 or 19:15 (only Day 2)
2.Computer-based Exams: 8:00-12:30 and/or 13:00-17:30 and/or 17:30-22:00 - Training session: minimum 2 hours to be arranged one or two weeks prior to the exam date
- Hourly rate and Allowance: RMB 100 before IIT (Individual Income Tax) and the calculation of time length is based on test day working hour; Flat-rate transportation fee for training and invigilation is provided; Total package fee for the most basic role is RMB 500 before IIT.
- Test day work invitation: Once you are selected into our invigilator pool, you may receive our invitation before each session
Desired Location: Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Changsha, Zhuhai, Xiamen, Nanning
