David Heyman, Producer, and Paul King, Co-writer and Director, of 2014 British comedy film 'Paddington' discuss their latest film, the UK film industry and advice for students pursuing a similar career path. 

David set up his own production company in 1997 called ‘Heyday Films’. In 1999 he bought the film rights to the Harry Potter series. Other notable productions during this time include blockbuster I Am Legend and the  films The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Is Anybody There?, and Yes Man.

Paul King is a British writer and director working in television, film and theatre, and specialising in comedy. Graduating  from St Catharine's College, Cambridge University with first-class honours in English, Paul is also the director for ‘The Mighty Boosh’, a British comedy television show. 

David Heyman and Paul King delivered a talk-show style Smart Talk at the Shanghai Film Museum, moderated by journalist and presenter James Chau. They discussed their latest comedy film ‘Paddington’, the UK film industry; and advice for students interested in working in the film industry.
