At the recent 66th TEFLIN International Conference in Medan, Indonesia, Taufique conducted two workshops based on two of the four modules from How Language Assessment Works. Taufique focused specifically on the assessment of Listening and Speaking and his workshops were attended by 107 teachers from different regions in Indonesia.

The principles and practices of language assessment are often an unknown quantity for language educators around the world, so How Language Assessment Works was created to enable language educators in different sectors to do the following:

  • Identify the basic principles involved in reliable and valid test design;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of different test types and how they can be used;
  • Evaluate the assessment needs of students within a given context;
  • Explain some practical techniques for assessing different language skills and knowledge.
