Do you want to be the next star television interviewer? Do you have your eye on being a big-name columnist or a hot-shot reporter? Does journalism excite you? Aged 18-25? Then have we got news for you!

Enter our competition for a chance to win a fully-funded place at an international conference for aspiring young journalists at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh -- Scotlands historic capital city.

The theme of this years conference is the Business of News.

All you have to do is show us your writing skills

Future NEWS, a three-day event on 4-6 September 2015, will bring together more than 100 young people from across the world. If selected as a participant you will:

  • learn key multi-media reporting and editing skills from established and emerging media and journalism professionals
  • network with the best from the world of media and journalism, and with other aspiring journalists
  • report using the Future NEWS multi-media real-time editorial system
  • build up your writing and multi-media portfolio to support your CV.

Your fully-funded place includes accommodation, travel to and from Scotland and subsistence. 

HOW DO I ENTER?

Are you 18-25 and an undergraduate or a postgraduate in any discipline? 

Are you fluent in spoken and written English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent)?

Are you aiming for a career in journalism or a graduate programme in journalism?

Then you’re eligible to enter the competition.

Enter by writing and submitting an essay or report of no more than 500 words answering the question:

Why should I, from many, many applicants from around the world, win a place at Future NEWS 2015? Why does journalism need me?

Submit the essay along with a copy of your CV.

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY ENTRY?

All entrants need to be able to commit to a three-day attendance at the full conference and be able to travel to Scotland at Future NEWSs expense.

Please put  Future NEWS Competition Entry as the subject of your email.

Final competition entries should be submitted by 19 July.

Only one submission per applicant will be accepted and late entries will not be considered by judges. Future NEWS is aimed at would-be journalists.

WHEN WILL I KNOW IF I HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL?

All successful entrants will be informed by email no later than 31 July.
