David has worked in the education and business sectors for over 20 years. His wide-ranging education and cultural relations experience and extensive educational networks have enabled him to contribute his expertise to many successful Sino-UK joint collaborative and cultural exchange programmes.Before joining the British Council, David set up joint ventures for Shanghai Phoenix Daily Chemicals, managing international development programmes to support Foreign Invested Enterprises and assisting the Shanghai Foreign Culture Exchange and Performance Company in organising the Shanghai Arts Fair. David was formerly a History teacher at a Shanghai High School.

David has an MA in History from East China Normal University and an MBA from the University of Strathclyde.
