Under the collaboration between National Theatre of China and Great Britain, National Theatre Live broadcasts the best of British theatre to cinemas around the world. Plays are filmed in front of a live audience in the theatre, with specially placed cameras allowing for an immersive viewing experience.
2016 sees some of Shakespeare’s best-loved works being shown in China including Othello starring Adrian Lester, King Lear starring Simon Russell Beale, and Hamlet starring Benedict Cumberbatch. On 23 April, special screening events will be held in Beijing, marking the exact day of the 400th anniversary.
