Jinwei Zhang held a Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Award (DHPA) from the UK government and completed his PhD in Biotechnology at Newcastle University in 2011. Since 2019, Jinwei has been a Professor at Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital, Xiamen University. His research has been instrumental in developing novel neuroprotective agents capable of reducing brain swelling in new-borns and stroke patients, offering a potential alternative to invasive surgery and hope for millions. His research has garnered joint support from the Royal Society UK and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). Jinwei holds credit for securing 10 international patents and publishing over 100 articles in high-impact scientific journals, including Cell, among others.
