The list has been developed to provide the UK with useful contacts to key organisations that support social enterprise in China. It details some of the major organisations that the British Council China has worked with during its Social Enterprise Programme (2009-2016).

The Social Enterprise Programme was launched in China in 2009, and was designed to provide aspiring and existing social entrepreneurs with skills training, mentoring, access to UK expertise and social investment opportunities.

The Programme was a huge success which has trained over 3,200 social entrepreneurs, facilitated RMB37 million in social investment opportunities to 117 social enterprises, and held salons, talks and other public events which were attended by 17,000 actors from the social enterprise sector. Our work in social enterprise was promoted on Chinese social media reaching an audience of 12 million people. We were also featured in over 5,600 business-related reports in the Chinese media.

We hope that this resource can be useful in continuing and promoting UK-China exchanges and cooperation in this field and help support sustainable partnerships between the two countries.

Although the Social Enterprise Programme closed in China in March 2016, our Global Social Enterprise Programme continues to operate in other countries.
