If you are Chinese, a professional English teacher and if you are motivated through your teaching to make a real difference in the lives of your students - look no further: this is the site for you. Welcome all!

During the recent visit by Prime Minister Theresa May to China, the British Council China and the English is GREAT campaign launched an award for teachers just like you - to recognise your professional and personal achievements and to celebrate the teaching styles you use to bring real results in spoken proficiency in English among your students.

I am lucky enough to have had some amazing teachers when I was at school and university, including my first Chinese teacher when I came to Shanghai in 1984. Speaking a foreign language proficiently is a wonderful skill - teaching a language proficiently when it’s not your native language even more so.

I know what a life changing moment it can be, when a teacher explains something in such a way to give you a “light-bulb” moment, and suddenly you can express yourself clearly, with nuance, and be understood. I am therefore personally committed to celebrating the work of teachers like you, and the life-changing moments you deliver, each and every day.

Through the submission process, we’d like you to share your experiences with us and to highlight best practice in teaching. Let’s share creative and impactful teaching styles with others.

I look forward to hearing all your stories, as we select each monthly winner - and to meet those winners at the end of 2018, as we gather to select the overall winner!
