British Music Campaign The British Music Campaign was launched at HM The Queen’s Birthday Party in Beijing. This new campaign, lead by Visit Britain in partnership with China’s leading music streaming APP – Xiami (part of Alibaba Group) and British Airways, led the audience on a journey through British music.  5-17 July, online
Earth: One Amazing Day  Earth: One Amazing Day is a co-production between BBC Earth Films and SMG Pictures, and it is the first feature film to be produced under the UK and China film co-production treaty. Audiences across China are invited on a breath-taking and immersive voyage across the continents, through the oceans and skies... but this time, all in a single amazing day. 1 August onwards, Beijing/Shanghai/other cities
UK-China Football Development Initiative The Premier League, the Football Association, and the British Council came together to jointly develop a UK-China football coach training programme, which consists of the ‘Premier Skills’ coach training courses and FA international coach development courses.  August - December, in multiple cities

International Youth Day Celebrations  In celebration of International Youth Day on August 12, Spirit of Youth friends will answer the important question: what was the best decision you made during your youth? Aimed at inspiring emerging leaders across China, a special series of video messages will be released online. 12 August, online
China Football Film Festival  Combining screenings of football-themed short films and documentaries with panel discussions, talks and training sessions, the audience will be able to look at the many facets of football as well as the role the UK and China have in the development of the popular sport. British Embassy Open Day  Now in its third year, Her Majesty’s Ambassador to China, Dame Barbra Woodward will open up the doors of her Residence and its gardens to the public to offer the ultimate experience in discovering all the many aspects of the UK and British culture. 16 September, Beijing, British Ambassador's Residence
Women of the World (WoW) Festival   The Women of the World (WoW) initiative is a global movement of festivals launched by Southbank Centre in London. It is a platform to celebrate women and girls, as well as a look at the obstacles they face through their lives. UK-China Early Years Education Campaign The only path to a truly prosperous future in China, the UK or around the globe is to empower and inspire young people. Early education representatives from the UK will share their insights and experiences to the audience and will discuss how to support the development of China’s youngsters to meet the future challenges. Poetry on the Metro Based on the successful campaign, London’s own ‘Poems on the Underground’ has travelled around the world to showcase poetry in public spaces and on transport networks.  In 2017, the British Council brings 40 British and Chinese poems to the metro systems in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Chongqing and Chengdu between September and December. ‘Current’ - New Scottish Contemporary Art exhibition CURRENT | 不合时宜: Contemporary Art from Scotland is a two-year four-phase contemporary art exhibition and forum programme, that showcases for the first time in China the distinctiveness of contemporary art made in Scotland, its grass-roots spirit and its keen debates with the social and political dimensions of art and culture. 22 September - 10 November, Shanghai Himalayas Museum
Musicians in Residencies As the British Council’s flagship music programme in China, Musicians in Residencies brings the third British musician in its fourth round, David Lyttle, a MOBO nominated jazz drummer, recording artist, composer and producer from Northern Ireland, to East China, to undertake a 6-week residency in Suzhou, after the programme saw the first two musicians, Emmy the Great and Quinta, in this round successfully finished their residencies.  10 September - 15 October, Suzhou
New Voice The Concrete and Grass Festival, now in its 3rd year in Shanghai, is run by Split Works, and its UK promoter Archie Hamilton. With support from the Spirit of Youth programme, this year’s hip hop, rock and indie line-up will include an eclectic mix of exciting and inspiring British bands and musicians. 16-17 September, Shanghai Rugby Football Club

UK Healthcare: Sharing Successes

With an increasing number of Chinese hospitals sending young Chinese health professionals to the UK for overseas training, Spirit of Youth will release a series of engaging interviews with recent returnees on their experiences.

 “Study UK, Discover You” Festival  The “Study UK, Discover You” Festival will be the highlight of a large-scale UK pavilion at the 2017 China Education Expo and the UK Education Showcase at the “Best of British” Exhibition. 20-29 October, Beijing/Shanghai/Guangzhou/ Chengdu 
British Sports Cultural Festival The British Sports Cultural Festival invites China’s emerging sporting talent to experience the UK’s most popular sports. One of the highlights of the event will be a rugby demonstration and training sessions. Born in the UK, rugby is set to become a popular sport in China, and this event will invite some of the UK’s top players from Bristol Rugby Football Club to demonstrate the UK’s talent in this exciting sport. Western Society at Wuzhen International Theatre Festival  Western Society, a theatre drama brought by Gob Squad is a portrait of civilisation in the 21st century, like a frame through which we can peep into the living room of an unknown family, and recognize ourselves. New Writing from China From 2016-17, with the support of the British Council, artists from the Royal Court Theatre, London worked with a group of emerging Chinese playwrights on developing new original and contemporary plays for China and the world. Now for the first time, the Royal Court and the British Council in partnership with Wuzhen Theatre Festival offer a glimpse into this ground breaking new work in progress.  22-28 October, Wuzhen Bangwan Theatre 
China-UK Education Technology Innovation and Development Workshop Education technology is one of the hottest industries in China. It attracts attention from both government and key market players. The UK education technology sector is recognised as the forefront of innovation, especially on educational software & content and enhancing educational equality. Red Arrows Second China Tour  Following on from its successful 2016 visit, the Red Arrows team will be visiting China for a second time this year. UK Alumni Awards Ceremony Since 1978, more than 600,000 students from Mainland China have studied in the UK. The British Council’s UK Alumni Awards recognise the outstanding achievements made by UK alumni and celebrate UK education, including the impact it has on successful individuals and those around them. The Awards encourage UK alumni to share their personal stories and inspire the young generations in China about the opportunities provided by a UK education.  25 November, Beijing 
UK-China Young Entrepreneurs Forum UK-China Young Entrepreneurs Forum - a China-wide event series aiming to create new networks among young entrepreneurs in the UK and China, while showcasing UK’s creativity and innovation. A series of young entrepreneur talks will be hosted in multiple locations, inviting British and Chinese entrepreneurs to share how they build companies, inspire their teams and keep the business running amid challenges. Caravan at Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre A partnership with the Arts Council of England, the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre, Times Museum in Guangzhou and the British Council, Caravan celebrates the best new theatre being made across England.
