Fees and terms of payment

*Note: the test fee above is VAT excluded. And the fee includes venue hire, invigilation charges, secure storage of question papers and courier charges. 

For all tests, exam service fee will be doubled if tests are arranged on public holidays in mainland China.

Terms of payment

All the fees above can be paid by candidates in RMB through the British Council Exams Online System. All fees must be paid no later than the test entry deadline.

Refund and cancellation

  • Candidates may cancel exams at least five working days prior to the exam date by sending their cancellations to us via email in either English or Chinese. 50% of the local test fee will be refunded.  A written cancellation application is required. Medical report needs to be issued by an authorized body. The report should include both the signature of the doctor/professional and stamp of the institution, and indicate that the situation stops the candidate from taking the exam on the scheduled date.
  • If candidates would like to cancel the booking within five working days prior to the examination or is absent for the exam, there will be no test fee refund.

Exam Registration Process

EXAMS REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

1. Create an account: Please click this link www.britishcouncilexams.cn/Candidate/Login.aspx and register an account and the system will generate a verification email to you for account activation, and please note you can apply for exams only after your account has been activated.
2. Apply for an exam: Login your account, and enter the page of “Apply an Exam” by clicking the tab of “Exam Registration”. Choose “Test Centre”, “Exam Category”, “Product” and “Exam Month”.
3. Upload application form: Download STEP application form  and upload your completed form before submitting your application. 
4. Check exam details: You will receive notification email if there is any change to your application status. You can check your exam details by clicking the tab of “Registration Record” and entering the page of “Application Information”.

5. Make payment: You may make online payment once receiving the notification, indicating your application status changes to “Application Waiting for Payment”. Please enter the page of “Application Information” by clicking the tab of “Registration Record”, and select your preferred payment method.
6. Print the confirmation letter: The system will remind you to print the confirmation letter after the payment is confirmed, and please enter the page of “Confirmation” to do so. You can check exam details, such as venue information, etc., in your confirmation letter. Please kindly note that the confirmation letter may also be sent to you via email.

ON THE TEST DAY

• Candidates should arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time of the exam.
• Candidates must bring the same National ID or passport used at registration. If any candidates under 18 needs to be collected after the end of the tests, the parent(s), guardian(s), any other authorized person(s) must present to the invigilators the original copy of ID which matches the scanned copy uploaded onto our exam registration system.
• Candidates can bring writing instruments into the exam room. No mobile phones, books, dictionaries, papers or any other devices are allowed unless approved for that subject.

Results and Post-test service

RESULTS

Only the results of STEP, BMAT, TMUA, ELAT and TSA Oxford will be released to candidates in the Results Online system. Results of other tests are not published automatically. Candidate may request their results from the universities.

STEP: 13 August 2020 (after 17:00 China local time)

BMAT: 27 Nov 2020 (after 17:00 China local time)

TMUA: 30 Nov 2020 (after 17:00 China local time)

ELAT,TSA Oxford:  11 Jan 2021 (after 17:00 China local time)

POST-TEST SERVICE

Candidates who register for STEP,BMAT and TMUA in our center may submit their enquiries about results within the period set by Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing and the British Council. We are unable to process any enquiries about results for candidates from other test centers. Applicants should submit an application on our exams registration system, and make the online payment as required within five working days of the results release date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What is UCAS ID?
When you register with UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) Apply, you will get a 10-digit Personal ID Number like this: 123-456-7890. It is very important to ensure that your UCAS ID and personal details submitted to us are accurate and match what you put in your UCAS application, so that your results can be sent to the correct university.

Q2: How long is the result valid for?
The result is only valid for the year the test is taken and cannot be carried over to a re-application.

Q3: Can I take Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing this year if I don’t plan to apply for university in this year?
Yes, but as the result is only valid for the year the test is taken and cannot be carried over to a re-application, you need to take the exam again in the year you plan to apply for universities.

Q4: How to deal with the time clash between different exams?
With the same exam series, there may be different scenarios of exam timetable clash:
1) For timetable clash between multiple subjects of Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing registered at our center, we will make re-arrangement accordingly. Candidates should refer to the Confirmation Letter for the final timetable. If there is any timetable clash between two exams, one of them will be rescheduled for a different time on the same date. Candidates should be under full center supervision during the break between two exams.  During the break, candidates will not be permitted to use mobile phones nor any other electronic devices or communicate with the other candidates.
2) We are unable to make any rearrangement for timetable clash between Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing registered at our center and other exams (e.g. Cambridge International exams). Candidates should avoid any timetable clash before registering for exams.

Q5: Notice to Under-18 Candidates
While registering under 18 candidates at our center, the parents and/or guardians should:
1) Read carefully the Child Protection Policy on our exams registration system
2) Download and complete the relevant documents
3) Indicate how the candidate will leave the test venue after the exams, and upload relevant documents to the registration system as required
4) On test day, parents, guardians or any other authorized person(s) must present to the invigilators the original copy of ID which matches the scanned copy uploaded onto our exam registration system.
