A consortium of over 40 leading British and Jiangsu universities committed to developing world class joint research and international talent through teaching, leadership training and transnational education (TNE).

This initiative is managed and prime funded by the British Council and Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education. The University of Liverpool and Jiangsu University act as the Secretariat for the consortium.

Bi-annual meetings of UK partners and an Annual General Meeting (AGM) for all members ensure shared objectives are developed and met, activity is tracked and reported and research proposals reviewed.

Aims

The UK Jiangsu Consortium enables:

  • China, and the Jiangsu provincial government, to optimise international teaching and research capability by partnering and sharing resources with UK centres of excellence, focusing activity in disciplines of strategic relevance
  • UK universities to access opportunities for outstanding joint research, build international brand and deepen academic and industry relationships within Jiangsu province, China and across Asia.

The programme encourages partners to build capacity and increase mobility opportunities for staff and students, promoting knowledge exchange between industry and universities. It also seeks multi-lateral co-operation between partners and actively looks to expand membership.
