Deputy Director, British Council China and Minister Counsellor (Culture and Education), British Embassy Beijing
Ozan is the Deputy Director of the British Council China and the Minister Counsellor (Culture and Education) at the British Embassy. In this role, he supports the British Council's work in building educational and cultural links between the UK and China. He was appointed to this position in September 2024.
During his 16-year career with the British Council he has managed higher education, schools and non-formal education programmes in the UK, MENA, South Asia and East Asia, working in partnership with major donors including the FCDO, EU, World Bank and the Asian Development Bank.
Ozan retains a close interest in language teaching, learning and testing following his employment as an English language teacher trainer in Brazil and as an examiner for Trinity College London and Cambridge prior to joining the British Council.
A passionate believer in lifelong learning, Ozan has gained a master’s degree in global diplomacy with a special focus on East Asia and a diploma in English language teaching to adults in addition to his bachelor’s degree in social anthropology.
