1. University of Brighton (2018-2024)
Brighton University fires intelligent manufacturing research with unique transnational education partnership
Drawing on the UK and China’s remanufacturing heritage – such as the China-UK Remanufacturing Summits that bring together universities and industry partners for collaboration, the funding led to the BRI Education Partnership in Intelligent Manufacturing (BRIIM) project, a partnership led by University of Brighton, in collaboration with Wuhan University of Science and Technology (WUST), Chongqing University (CQU) and Malaysia University of Science and Technology. The initiative focused on promoting collaboration in intelligent manufacturing between the UK, China, and Malaysia with a particular emphasis on remanufacturing and addressing mutual challenges while building sustainable partnerships.
2. King’s College London (2018-2022)
The Universities Network on Global Leadership, Peace, and Development: innovative collaboration between King’s College London and China
For academic institutions across the UK, China, and other global regions, creating meaningful and sustainable partnerships that foster international collaboration in higher education is a complex but essential task. The challenge lies in overcoming barriers such as limited resources, funding constraints, and varying educational frameworks, while seeking innovative ways to enhance academic exchanges, research, and student mobility.
The Universities Network on Global Leadership, Peace, and Development project, spearheaded by King’s College London, provides a powerful response to these challenges. By securing seed funding from the British Council China Higher Education Partnership Fund, the project connects partner institutions across the UK, China, and African countries, aiming to foster transnational collaboration in higher education.
3. University of Leeds (2018-2024)
Food Safety & Nutrition – Collaboration in Higher Education is the Key to Long Term Success
Successful projects always come with a feel-good factor. All the more so when positive impacts include long term benefits that will far outlive the initial hard work. With the support from the British Council Higher Education Partnership Fund, a recent project based at the University of Leeds is a case in point. Spanning from 2018 to 2024, the Partnership and Capacity for Teaching and Training in Food Safety and Nutrition was designed from the start to create immediate returns as well as continuing benefits.
4. New College Lanarkshire (2018-2024)
British Council China Higher Education Partnership Fund spells success for New College Lanarkshire, Scotland
For institutions committed to international education, coordinating cross-border collaborations can be a complex task. This is where the British Council China Higher Education Partnership Fund played a key role in fostering meaningful global connections.
The Partnership Fund, encouraging projects that boost exchanges and create opportunities for individuals, was awarded to New College Lanarkshire, Scotland (NCL) in 2019, to support a joint venture between NCL, Chifeng University and Heze Medical College, China, the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences (MNUMS), and the National University of the Philippines. The aim of the collaboration was to compare and contrast dental nursing across all four partner countries, while using a research driven approach to address the skills gap in dental healthcare sectors.
