In Say Your Peace: Three Recipes for Self Care, three young British poets provide a collaborative perspective on what offers them solace amid the disruption and isolation experienced during the coronavirus pandemic.
Young People’s Laureate for London Theresa Lola, and former Laureates Caleb Femi and Momtaza Mehri, each explore the impact lockdown made on us, and the things we found comfort in. Cups of tea, small talk in supermarkets, and online chats all become ways in which we maintain connections during this period of isolation, and become reasons for celebration.
The film was developed as part of a wider #SayYourPeace campaign, spearheaded by Theresa Lola. The project encouraged young people to use poetry as a way to share the moments when they found peace and calm in this period of uncertainty; and to find solidarity in the experiences of others.
