In the performance of The City, we try to present the habit, thoughts, and emotions of masses who live in Guangzhou. The passion of our lives should be seen, even though it's been neglected or treated with contempt by mainstream culture. Ten million people live in this city. We are eager to show their persistent vitality.
There are different dance pieces from ten dancers. Based on their own experience, the pieces are choreographed into three chapters. We will provide the audiences with a presentation of life in the City.
About Mistakable Symbiotic Dance Troupe
Founded in June 2018 in Guangzhou, Mistakable Symbiotic Dance Troupe is a non-profit dance troupe practicing the concept of symbiosis. It aims to provide equal opportunity for people with different capability and physical condition to dance and perform, enhance creativity and artistic expression of dancers with and without disabilities in order to change the stereotype image of disabled people and their art performance, and ultimately to drive meaningful change to secure a more inclusive and diverse society. The Chinese name ‘共生不错‘ of the dance troupe has multifaceted meanings - ‘不错’, on one hand, mean there is no such thing as right or wrong in general; on the other hand, in Cantonese dialect, it means quite good, while its English name Mistakable is more understanding and tolerant of mistake, which they think is genuinely ‘quite good’.
