Room 2 Manoeuvre presents Made in Macau a short documentary about a Scottish choreographer’s experience of working with a Macau based dance company over a course of 3 years. Artistic Director of Edinburgh based Room 2 Manoeuvre, Tony Mills, began a collaboration with Popeye Hong from The Dancers Studio Macau who both have a shared passion for the cross over between hip hop and contemporary dance. Tony and Popeye teamed up to give professional hip hop dancers in Macau the chance to explore new creative territory and participate in bold new dance works. This documentary captures excerpts from 3 dance pieces that were created over the course of 2017 – 2019, each with their own unique theme. Tony Mills talks about the challenges both he and local dancers faced while adapting to new working environments, different expectations and communicating without words. A story of growth from opposite ends of the world.
